An official statement out of China now confirms the meeting:
- China’s Vice Premier He Lifeng will visit Switzerland from May 9–12
- He is the Chinese leader for trade negotiations, and as such will hold talks with US Treasury Secretary Bessent during his visit
Initial talks have been a long time coming, with Trump more or less begging for a call with Chinese President Xi and Xi ignoring him. Finally getting a start it seems.
